320 days after, burnt Festac Link Bridge reopened for use

Nearly a year after the inferno that razed parts of the Festac Link bridge and affected businesses around the axis, the popular bridge has been opened for public use.

The bridge which was shut down for repairs for 320 days was reopened for use at about 5:00pm yesterday, Monday, November 5, 2018, InsideMainland gathered.

Speaking at the opening of the bridge, the Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin,Valentine Buraimoh said the bridge was reopened after conclusion of tests by site engineers who worked on the project.

Meanwhile, FestacOnlince reports that the cheering news has brought relief to residents of the community who have faced a difficult time since the inferno that rocked the neighbourhood.

A resident, Joy Okonkwo was quoted as saying; “I am so excited that the bridge is now opened. We have waited for so long but all that is past. I can now drive to and fro Festac Town without stress and fear of traffic.”

Recall that the bridge was shut down following the inferno that occurred on the bridge after a tanker laden with diesel fell and spilled its content on the road.
